Tournaments
Tournament and competition are an integral part of martial artist training. Competition builds confidence, discipline and leadership skills. Competitions are also an opportunity to test your skills. Questions like, am I at the level of fitness that I want to be at? And, are my skills and techniques what they should be at my belt level? May be answered through competition.
Participation in Kikara’s tournaments is not mandatory- just heavily encouraged. We encourage our students to sign up for multiple categories and to bring their friends and family to watch them compete.
If you are interested in Martial arts, but have not tried it before, competitions are an excellent way to watch what martial arts training can do for you or your child. Not just in terms of fitness but also in self-defence type skills. Every tournament there are one or more demonstrations put on by different schools. This year one hull hour from 12-1pm will be dedicated to demonstrations.
The next Kikara tournament will take place on May 23rd, 2009, in the Kwantlen Polytechnic University gym at 12666 72nd Avenue, Surrey, B.C. Registration starts at 8:00am with the first tournament divisions starting at 10:00am. Pre-registration will be available at all Kikara locations until May 14, 2009.
